Continuing this week’s theme of “street wear”, I’m reconsidering how I might be able to rework my vintage Jil Sander x Puma pumps into the mix.
Like the sweatpants I posted about a few days ago, sneakers are generally considered street wear and rarely associated with professional office wear. But if you take a closer look, all over the world, sartorially savvy folk are incorporating their dandy kicks with their suits and ties. On the female side, some kick-as* ladies can been seen shedding their stilettos in lieu of sportier sneaks too.
Based on observation and street style photos, the footwear isn’t just any old footwear. Usually, what’s called for are New Balance or Nike shoes. Sometimes there’s a pair of Adidas thrown in for variety, but generally, people seemingly prefer the aforementioned brands.
I popped into Gravity Pope in Toronto’s WQW area and found a few pairs of NB shoes that I’d consider. I haven’t seen many other stores carrying fashion-friendly NB shoes versus actual NB running shoes.
**In other sports shoes news: I came across LeBron James’ new shoe, the LeBron 11, and my jaw kinda dropped. The King’s Pride version is siiiick.
